Lucille Evelyn Workman, of McAlester, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at a local nursing home at the age of 86.
Lucille was born on April 16, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, to John Spirk and Catherine (Gross) Spirk. While in high school, her family moved to El Monte, California, where she graduated from El Monte High School with the Class of 1949.
She met her future husband, Eugene Workman, and they married on March 31, 1951, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and made their home in Azusa, California.
In October of 1969, the family moved to McAlester where they remained. She retired at age 70.
Prior to retirement, she worked for the McAlester Hospital as a physical therapy aide.
She is survived by daughter, Patty Lanier and husband, Bob, of Weatherford; granddaughters, Randi Lanier and husband, J.R. Griffin, of Coweta, Regan Voice and husband, Nate, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Lexus Lafevers, of Ada, and grandsons, Kris McElroy and wife, Jennifer, of Durant, and Randy McElroy, of McAlester.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Workman; parents, John Spirk and Catherine Williams; sister, Josephine Baker; brother, Kenneth Spirk, and daughters, Vickie Larison and Paula Lafevers.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, at Choate Prairie Cemetery in Indianola. Burial of the cremains will follow.
