LaWanda A. (Scott) Morrow, 89, of Kiowa, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, in McAlester.
LaWanda was born on Feb. 3, 1928 in Lamar, to James P. Arthur and Amy L. (Easley) Arthur. She married Roy W. Scott on Aug. 30, 1947, and they were blessed with three children.
LaWanda graduated from Moss High School in 1946. She then attended Tulsa Business School where she used music to learn to type up to 120 wpm. She worked as a clerk typist in various federal agencies and ended her career at the McAlester Ammunition Plant where she worked for over 20 years until her retirement in 1986.
She married F.J. Morrow on Sept. 15, 1984. LaWanda enjoyed listening to country and gospel music, dancing and traveling.
LaWanda is survived by children, Phillip Scott and wife, Caren, of Kiowa, Donna L. Harrington and husband, Virgil, of Cassville, Missouri, Dennis J. Scott and fiancé, Mickie, of Kiowa, Linda Shurley, of Holdenville, and Tony Morrow and wife, Jackie, of Gerty. She also is survived by a brother, Donald Arthur and wife, Dora, of Gallup, New Mexico, and sister, Sue Stelter and husband, Henry, of Oklahoma City. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Amy Arthur; husband, Roy W. Scott, in 1980; husband, F.J. Morrow, in 2014; brothers, J.K. Arthur and Stanley Arthur, and sister, Wilma Gray.
The family will greet friends today, Feb. 26, at Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, Feb. 27, at First Baptist Church of Kiowa at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Clarence Brinkley officiating. Interment will follow at Pittsburg Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Roger Gray, Randy Gray, Ross Gray, James Stelter, Alan Arthur and Randy Capehart.
Honorary pallbearers will be Benjamin Harrington, Jarod Scott and Justin Scott.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Oklahoma Chapter, Department 2845, Tulsa, OK, 74182.
