Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be on Monday, Aug. 20, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Hartshorne with the Rev. Daniel Miller officiating. Brad Spears will be reading the eulogy. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Braylon Spears, Westin Jennings, Robert Jerez, Clyde Ray Spears, Tye Weaver and Jaylon Jennings.
Honorary pallbearers are Clyde Spears, Johnny Dale Bernardi, Jim Barnes, Gary Maddux, Mark Ichord, Glen Davis and Wyatt Jennings.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Heartland Hospice at 318 East Choctaw, McAlester, OK, 74501, or to the American Parkinson's Disease Association, Oklahoma Chapter, at P.O. Box 3113, Broken Arrow, OK, 74073.
Larry Jennings was born on Jan. 17, 1944, in Stidham, to Homer and Gladys (Cox) Jennings. After high school, he attended Connors State College, then Northeastern, where he earned his masters degree in education. He taught school at Muskogee for several years then went to Stidham as an administrator for 18 years before moving to Hartshorne 31 years ago, where he was elementary school principal for 20 years.
Larry was a sports enthusiast. He loved going hunting and fishing as well as watching football and basketball. He was a big Oklahoma University and Thunder fan.
He was also gifted musically. He loved to sing and play his guitar and harmonica and had his own band for a while, the Larry Jennings Band. He also loved to play his guitar and harmonica with his special buddy, Clyde Spears, and his grandson, Braylon Spears.
Larry was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Hartshorne.
Larry is survived by his wife, Kathy Jennings; children, Wade Jennings, Natalie Jerez and husband, Chris, Rob Park and wife, Sarah, and Keli Spears and husband, Brandon; grandchildren, Wyatt Jennings, Allee Jennings, Braylon Spears, Westin Jennings, Railey Spears, Robert Jerez, Jackson Jerez, Alex Park, Grant Jerez, Kade Spears and Tailynn Erskine; a brother, Don Jennings and wife, Shirley; a sister-in-law, Mae Jennings; his mother-in-law, Doris Pruitt; a sister-in-law, Liz Kreller and husband, Tom, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Haskell and Leon Jennings, and a sister, Ruby Green.
