> Kathryn Mankin Harwell, 93, of Tulsa, passed away on May 13, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bishop Funeral Home, with burial at Lutie Cemetery in Wilburton, Oklahoma.
> > Born on November 21, 1923 in Panola, Oklahoma, Kathryn was the daughter of Willie and Birdie Mankin. Kathryn graduated from Panola High School in May 1942 and moved to San Francisco, California shortly thereafter to work as a stenographer for Southern Pacific Railroads. There, she met Harold Harwell and they were married on September 15, 1951. They welcomed their daughter, Denise Marie Harwell, on August 8, 1957. In 1962, the family moved to Ocean Springs, Mississippi and resided there through Denise's childhood. As a homemaker, Kathryn took great pride in caring for her family and enjoyed gardening and playing bridge. Kathryn and Harold moved to McAlester, Oklahoma in 1985 to be near their grandchildren and her extended family. While in McAlester, she was an active member of the Grand Avenue Methodist Church. After her husband passed, she moved to Tulsa to be near her daughter and grandchildren in 2007. Kathryn is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Denise Harwell Tannehill and husband, Ernie Tannehill of Tulsa; two grandchildren, James Harwell Tannehill and wife Gina Tannehill of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Tara Tannehill Berger and husband Daniel Berger of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one great grandchild, Henry James Berger of Virginia Beach, Virginia; siblings Juanita Golightly, Christine Pate, Bernice Hoefer, Nadine Strout and Donald Mankin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
> Pallbearers will be James H. Tannehill, Ernie Tannehill, Dwayne Mankin, Kevin Kint, Daniel Berger, and Don Hass. Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Harold M. Harwell, her parents, and siblings Audie Gniffke, A.C. Mankin, and Evelyn DeHart.
