Kathleen "Kathy" Rollins

January 30, 1946 - April 27, 2018

Kathy Rollins, 72, of McAlester, died Friday, April 27, 2018, at Oklahoma State University Medical Center in Tulsa.
The family will welcome friends at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Additional visitation for Kathy will begin at 8 a.m. Wednesday morning. No additional services will be scheduled.
Kathy was born on Jan. 30, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After high school, she attended the Depaul School of Nursing, graduating in 1967 as a registered nurse.
She then joined the United States Army, serving for two years and receiving her honorable discharge as first lieutenant in 1969.
It was during this time while serving in Vietnam, she met her future husband, Lance Rollins. They were married on May 30, 1969, in Honolulu, Hawaii, while Kathy was on R & R from her assignment in Vietnam. She returned to Vietnam and Lance came stateside, since he had recently received his discharge from military service, to wait for his bride.
They have made their home in McAlester for the past 47 years.
Kathy worked at McAlester Regional Health Center, in many capacities, for 34 years. Kathy never met a stranger and had patience unlike anyone. She found joy in helping others no matter if it was providing advice, cooking a favorite meal or just simply listening. She would do anything for her family and friends. She provided them with so much strength and guidance. Kathy was very intelligent and loved learning about anything new. She loved all animals, big and small and passed that passion on to her children. It took very little to bring a smile to her face.
Although Kathy had many medical issues early in her life, she never let this interfere with going on adventures with family and friends, she would always find a way. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and spending time at the lake, especially spending time with her family.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Lance Rollins; a daughter and son-in-law, Casey and Tommy Parker; a son, Josh Rollins; two grandchildren, Kole Rollins and Madison Bennett, and two sisters, Darlene Bonnell and Barbara Hard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Maxwell Jr. and Florence Ellison, and her grandparents, Roy Sr. and Mirdle Maxwell.
