June Wansick, 91, of Haileyville, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at Beare Manor Nursing Center in Hartshorne.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 3, at Brumley-Mills Chapel in Hartshorne with Pastor Terry Sensibaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hartshorne.
June was born on May 29, 1926, in Wilburton, to Jack and Rosa (Robinson) Thomas. She graduated from Hartshorne High School as Valedictorian in 1944.
She married Bill Wansick on Dec. 23, 1944, in McAlester. She was a lifelong resident of this area and enjoyed cooking for her family.
She was a member of the Choctaw Seniors and her mother was an original enrollee of the Choctaw Nation.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Haileyville.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Lisa Wansick, of High Hill; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two nephews, Larry Cuzalina, of McAlester, and Gary Wansick, of McAlester, and a great-nephew, Charles Cuzalina, of Oklahoma City.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985; her parents; infant brother; sister, Ruth Thomas Cuzalina; two nephews, Frank Jr. and Dale Cuzalina, and great-nephew, Billy Frank Cuzalina.
Active pallbearers will be Larry Cuzalina, Kevin Cuzalina, Gary Wansick, Mark Savage, James Savage and Terry Barker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mary Kessler and Bonnie Friday.
