Joy Deen (Cason) Hooe was born October 16, 1935 in McAlester, to Willie Winford and Esther Edna (Dahms) Cason. She went to school and graduated from Kiowa High School. She then attended Draughons Business School in Dallas. She married R.E. Hooe on October 16, 1953 in Fort Worth, TX. They made their home near Wardville.
She was a sales associate with her parents in Cason's Store in Kiowa until they sold the store in 1976. She then worked for JC Penney Co. in McAlester for 21 years. When she retired, she was catalog department supervisor. Since then she has worked with R.E. on the ranch. She liked cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time with family.
Joy was a lifelong Methodist, where she taught the beginners class for many years, and was a pianist part time.
Joy is survived by her son, Winford Earl Hooe and wife Donata of St. Johns, Arizona; daughters, Paula Kaye Weeks and husband Jeff of Wagoner, and Karla Joy Hall and husband Michael of Kiowa; granddaughters, Melissa Kaye Parker and husband Jake of Sperry, Tansey Hall and husband Clayton of Snowflake, Arizona, Krista Joy Berna and husband Jason of Stroud, Kailey Mychel Young and husband Zachary of Broken Arrow, Trista Sib Elms and husband Mike of Provo, Utah, and Sarah Cason Hall of Kiowa; great-grandchildren, Cade Hall and Claire Hall of Snowflake, Arizonia, Jayci Parker and Blakely Parker of Sperry, Tripp Berna of Stroud, Benjamin Michael Elms of Provo, Utah, and Bellamy Anne Young of Broken Arrow; sisters, Willea Atkinson of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Georgia Nichols of Longtown; brother-in-law, Paul Hooe of Coalgate; sister-in-laws, Jean Ann Loftin of Bedford, Texas, Mary Katherine Hooe of Wardville, Margaret Jo Daniel and husband Bill of Wolfe City, Texas, Joyce Hooe of Wolfe City, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
Joy is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, R.E. Hooe; her sister, Karlene Richardson; and brother, Robert Cason.
The Hooe Family would like to thank Lyle Shipley, Amy Ray, All of the Robert Daniel Family, Tender Care Hospice (Coalgate, Oklahoma), and Coalgate United Methodist Church.
The family will greet friends Tuesday March 14 from 6-8 p.m. at Bishop Funeral Service in McAlester.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday March 15 at Coalgate United Methodist Church, 106 N. Newell Street with burial following at Wardville Cemetery, Wardville Pastor Lyle Shipley will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Matt Hooe, Michael Anderson, Jack Shirley, Rusty Christman, Jeff Cason, and Allan Atkinson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Paul Hooe, Robert and Jarie Daniel, Johnie and Del Hammer, Charlie Cox, Dean and Alene Cantrell, R.W. and Jeanine Sartor, Roger Hatridge, John Powell, Ralph and Marion McClendon, Joe Wilkins, Rex Hatridge, Roy Hatridge, David Hall, Kenneth Battles, Jim and Carol Ward, Barbara Shannon, and Cleo Stone.
