Joe Medley, 71, of McAlester, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, at Muskogee V.A. Hospital.
The family will receive friends at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester on Friday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 25, at 10 a.m. at Brumley-Mills Chapel with Ace Firth officiating.
Pallbearers will be Brian Maxwell, Donnie Skidmore, Clark Yowell, Lane Medley, Zack Medley, Rodger Melton, Barrett Medley, Dustin Medley, Shawn Melton and Chris Melton.
Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard.
Joe Medley was born on Oct. 31, 1946, in Bartlesville, to Robert and Kathaleen (Hoppick) Medley. Although Joe had lived in different places, McAlester was always home.
Joe worked at the state prison for a while before moving to Oklahoma City, where he owned and operated his own real estate brokerage and insurance agency.
He and his wife, Norma, moved back to McAlester in 2008.
Joe had also served in the U.S. Navy with three tours during the Vietnam War, then served in the Navy Reserves before finally serving in the Army National Guard of Oklahoma.
Joe was a member of the North McAlester Masonic Lodge No. 9 and was a 32nd degree Mason with the McAlester Scottish Rite.
Joe is survived by his wife, Norma Medley, of the home; his children, Marty Medley, Kayla Wilkett, Brian Maxwell and Tommy Maxwell; brothers, Robert Medley and Jimmy Medley; sisters, Barbara Nelson and Doris Davis; grandchildren, Zack Medley, Sarah Medley and Rowdy Medley, and great-grandchildren, Brendon Julian, Jackson Wilkett.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, R.B. "Sam" Medley, Billy E. Medley and Willis "Buster" Medley.
