Jerry's Story

Jerry Wayne Sennett, 70, of McAlester, died peacefully at his home on Friday, Dec. 29, 2016.
He was born on Aug. 16, 1946, in McAlester, to Earl Lonzo "Nood" and Ethel Rhodes Sennett. Jerry attended school in Indianola and graduated in 1964.
He joined the United States Army in January 1966 and served in the Vietnam War.
After returning to McAlester, he worked at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant as a fireman and fork lift driver.
He married Lumae Mullins on Sept. 30, 1977. He enjoyed gardening and watching professional bullriding on television.
He is survived by his wife, Lumae, of the home; sons, Gerald Sennett, of McAlester, and Joel Sennett and wife, Jenny, of Crowder; daughters, LaVena Stacey and Erika Gilliam, of McAlester; grandchildren, Destiny Sennett, Tyler Stacey, Courtney and Clinton Gilliam, Eli Sennett and Jade Sennett, all of McAlester, Megan Williamson, of Kinta, and Jaxston Sennett, of Crowder; a great-grandson, Izzac McKendrick, and his grandmother, Dani Sharp, of McAlester; brother, E.L. Sennett and wife, Dorothy, of McAlester, and sister, Zelda Kennedy, of McAlester.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Mary Collier and Earlene Sennett.
A Celebration of Jerry's Life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at Arpelar Faith Assembly of God Church with Brother Clint Gray officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Add'Vantage Cremation of Tulsa.
