Jerald "Jerry"'s Story
Jerold "Jerry" McCarty, 78, of Midwest City, died on Dec. 26, 2017.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. J.T. Carnell officiating.
Jerry was born on Jan. 14, 1939, in Tannehill, to Richard and Mary Ester Martin McCarty. He grew up and attended grade school in the Tannehill and McAlester areas. When he was in his teens he moved to Chicago and graduated high school from there.
Jerry drove a delivery truck for several years. He started several businesses over the years including P.J.'s Club before he started working as a manager for Walmart. He worked for several Walmarts in Oklahoma and Texas before finally retiring from the Edmond store.
Jerry was definitely a people person. He enjoyed mowing his lawn and he was a big Oklahoma University football fan.
He is survived by his wife, Donna McCarty, of the home; three sons, Derk McCarty, Erik McCarty and his wife, Jamie, of McAlester, and Kert McCarty and his wife, Barbana, of Tulsa; one brother, Charles McCarty and his wife, JoAnn, of Arizona; one sister, May Humbles and husband, Ronnie, of McAlester; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Johnny Jones and Richard McCarty.
