James Edward "Sonny" Wilson, 72, died Tuesday evening, April 12, 2017, at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Visitation will be on Friday evening at Bishop Funeral Home between 6 and 8 p.m.
His services are going to be on Saturday at 10 a.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church of McAlester with the Rev. Herbert Scott officiating. Burial will be at Arpelar Cemetery.
James was born on May 31, 1944, in McAlester, to James W. and Margaret Ada Powell Wilson. He attended schools in the McAlester area.
He married Carolyn Scott on Oct. 16, 1978, in Eufaula. He was a truck driver all of his life, both long-hauls and local. James and his wife had lived in Arkansas since 1988,
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn, of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Amanda and Andrew Collins, of Van Buren, Arkansas, and Elaine Gill, of Muskogee; three sisters, Betty Strode, of McAlester, Annie Prescott, of McAlester, and Joyce Thompson, of McAlester; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter H. and Laura Wilson, of McAlester, and Gerald and Linda Wilson, of Adamson; eight grandchildren, Andrea Collins, Ashlea Collins, Alexia Collins, Christopher Hatch, Tony Hatch, Bryan Oslin, Cory Wilson and Nathan Wilson; 10 great-grandchildren; one special great-grandchild, Zachary Collins, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jamie Wilson, and five sisters, Lorene Phillips, Betsy Clay, Barbara Westbrook, Evelyn Baker and Norma Baker.
Pallbearers will be Mike Jamison, Jason Scott, James McClaughrey, Chester Bales, Roy Westbrook and Doug Scott.
Honorary pallbearers will be Walter H. Wilson, Gerald Wilson and Andrew Collins.
