Imogene (James) Nichols, 80, of McAlester, died Saturday, February 24, 2018, at her home. Imogene was surrounded by her loving family as she peacefully passed from this world and joined her husband of 63 years, Don Nichols.
Imogene was born to Shorty and Pauline (Millsap) James on June 9, 1937, in Pittsburg. She graduated from Pittsburg High School.
Imogene married Donald Dee Nichols on November 19, 1954, in Daisy, and they had two sons, Gary and Randy. During the course of their marriage, Imogene and Don worked sided by side operating multiple local businesses.
Imogene enjoyed gardening, cooking and being outdoors, but her greatest joy was her family.
Imogene is survived by her sons, Gary Nichols and wife, Annette, of Eufaula, and Randy Nichols and wife, Rebecca, of McAlester; grandson, Jordon Nichols, of Norman; granddaughters, Haley Yott and husband, Jason, of Fort Worth, Texas, Ashley Sewell and husband, Matthew, of McAlester, and Randilea Nichols, of Los Angeles, California; great-grandchildren, Hudson Yott, Rylee Sewell and Kassidy Sewell; brother, Larry James and wife, Penny, of Pinetop; brother-in-law, Sherman Nichols and wife, Doka, of Kiowa; sister-in-law, Georgia Nichols, of Eufaula, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
In keeping with her wishes, a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Imogene and the family has respectfully requested donations be made to Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Research Foundations or locally to Shared Blessings.
