Howard E. White Sr., 96, of McAlester, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, in McAlester.
Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Chapel, with burial following at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery.
Howard White Sr. was born on March 23, 1921, in Cabiness, to John and Tennie (Kuykendall) White. He grew up here and, although he had lived elsewhere for short times, McAlester was home since 1953.
He married Charlotte Ann Rose on Oct. 13, 1945, in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Howard served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and then worked as an insurance adjuster with Mid-Continent Casualty Company.
Howard is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Rose Ann Browning and Floyd Keefer, and Susie Williams and husband, Jerry; a daughter-in-law, Norma White; grandchildren, Sunnie Flood and husband, Tim, Kristen Lloyd and husband, Mick, Jeremy Williams and wife, Laurah, Amanda Burns and husband, Chris, and Sara Merlene-Kluth and husband, Jim; 13 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Dolly Beale.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Charlotte; a son, Howard Earl White Jr.; a grandson, Steven Earl White; a great-granddaughter, Kathryn Merlene; a son-in-law, Danny Browning; a brother, Loy White, and sisters, Myrtle Duncan, Lucille Barnett and Baby Girl White.
