Horace M. Cook Jr., 82, of McAlester, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017.
The family will receive friends today from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester. No services are scheduled.
Horace was born on July 22, 1935 in Atoka County, to Horace Sr. and Madeline (Rosso) Cook. He owned and operated Cookie's Food Mart for many years and later worked for CDI as a manager/salesman before retiring.
He was a Mason, a McAlester City Councilman and loved ranching and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Kim (Cook) James and husband, Curt, Karen (Cook) Faulkenberry and husband, Marvin, Vicki Cook LaBauve and husband, Dwight; grandchildren and spouses, Lela Faulkenberry, Haley Faulkenberry Blood and husband, Jeff, Dillon Hackler and wife, Marilee, Carly Hackler, Luke LaBauve and wife, Stephanie, and Hayden LaBauve and wife, Zana; great-grandchildren, Xander LaBauve, Jagger LaBauve, Ledger LaBauve, Brylie LaBauve, Brax LaBauve and Hunter Hackler; one sister, Ruth Ann Baldwin; numerous nieces and nephews, and a special thank you to his nurse, Trish Larson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
