Helen Rhea Gray

August 29, 1947 - September 05, 2018

Helen Rhea Silvey Gray died on September 5, 2018.
Helen is survived by her mother, Helen Jo Hass Kincannon, of Kiowa; two sons, Michael and Troy Hubbs, of Texas; a niece, Darra Cowart, of Texas; two great-nephews, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of special friends.
Family and friends were a big part of who Helen was. She was always helping those in need and was a natural caregiver. Early on with her children and with her mother, Jo, later in life. She was a big advocate for special needs and dreamed of starting a non-profit ranch for children and adults with different abilities.
Helen drove an 18-wheeler for over 25 years, never having an accident. She was a trainer for new drivers and received a million mile jacket. She was tough as nails with a heart of gold. Her wit, humor and reminiscing about her many adventures could entertain for hours.
She was a great cook. People would come from miles away for her hot rolls. She enjoyed arts, crafts, painting, and owning a ceramic shop in Kiowa for several years. She loved to read, travel, fish and being outdoors. She especially enjoyed being in the company of her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Fred and Winnie Hass, of Kiowa; her father, Ray Silvey, of Oregon, and her sister, Rilla Kay Silvey, of Kiowa.
A celebration of Helen's life will be held on Friday, September 14, at 2 p.m. at Kiowa First Baptist Church.
