Harold Dean Ott


Harold Dean Ott, 86, of Longtown, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019 in McAlester. The family will receive friends at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, April 29, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church, with Brother Brent Jarrett officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Codye Black, Sr., Codye Black, Jr., Corye Black, Kyle Holder, Terry Barker and Larry Messer. Honorary pallbearers are Roy Lott, Wesley Lavarnway, Webb Shirley, Jim Stimmick, Curtis Gene Ott and Bill Wolfe.
Harold Dean Ott was born on May 18, 1932 in Peaceable to Alouis and Johnnie (Whorton) Ott. He grew up here and has lived here virtually all his life, except while in the Army. He served in the U. S. Army for over 8 years during the Korean War and received his honorable discharge in 1960. Soon after, on Aug. 27, 1960, he married Juanita Lokey, who preceded him in death on March 24, 2018. Harold had worked for several years at the Hatter Turkey Farm and Hatter Feed Mill. Then he put in 12 years at the Army Ammunition Plant, and after retiring there he spent the last 16 years working for Indianola School as a bus driver. He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church.
Harold is survived by his children, Dene Renee Holder and Kyle of Longtown, Christi Michele Murdaugh and Terry Barker of McAlester, and Clyde Ross of California; grandchildren, Codye Black and April of Ft. Leonard Wood, MO., Corye Black and Kaylee of Wimberly, TX., Rocky Murdaugh of Lewisville, TX., Matt, Will and Walter Ross of California, Kenton Holder and Tracy of Lawrence, KS., and Kevin Holder and DeLainey of Liberal , KS.; great grandchildren, Kiley, Katlyn and Codye Black, Jr., Bladen Murdaugh, Lucas Ross, Evan, Addilyn and Alexis Holder, and Braden, CeCelia, Maddey and Amelia Holder; a sister, Geneva Hoffman; and sisters-in-law, Glenda Mitchell, Val Woodruff and Woody, and Sherry Lokey-Kresky. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; 1 sister, Louedith Sheppard; and 4 brothers, Ed, Curtis, Elbert "Monk", and Carroll Ott.

Harold was a very special man to many. He was one of my favorite patients here at Oklahoma Heart. Always positive, no matter what was going on.
God bless you all and praying for peace and comfort as he is in the place he wanted to be most, with our Lord and his precious Juanita.
