Erma D. (Walters) Wood, 81, of Crowder, died January 28, 2018, in McAlester.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, at Crowder Cemetery Pavilion officiated by the Rev. Jamie Kirkpatrick. Burial will follow.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Brown, Arlan Cox, Steve Walters, Tom Bell, Waymon Wood, Charles Hammett and Jeff Wood.
Erma was born to Lemuel and Bertha (Jones) Walters on October 10, 1936, in Mellette. She attended Indianola School.
Erma married Burl Virgil Wood on January 11, 1955, in McAlester. Erma had lived in California before returning to Crowder.
She worked as a meat wrapper for Allen's Market for over 20 years. She had also worked at the Lakeside Store in Crowder and as a custodian for Crowder School.
She enjoyed going to the casino. Erma was of the Pentecostal faith.
She is survived by her brothers, Eddie Walters, of Crowder, and Leon Walters and wife, Emma, John Walters and wife, Ethel, all of McAlester; granddaughter, Skylar Wood, of Crowder; special niece, Jackie Brown, of Indianola; a special friend and neighbor, Peggy Cox, of Crowder, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Erma was preceded in death by her parents, Lemuel and Bertha Walters; her husband, Burl Virgil Wood; sisters, Ocie Wood and Jessie Standridge, and brothers, L.B. Walters, Virgil Walters and Bill Walters.
