Erma Dean Jackson, 86, of Gowen, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at her home.
The family will welcome friends at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 28, at 2 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Chapel in Hartshorne, officiated by the Rev. Kenny Morrow. Burial will follow at Gowen-Cambria Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Steven Richmond, Tristan McMath, Steve Reed, Kenny Sutton, Bruce Rizor and Alex Jackson.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Kenneth Miller, Eddie Vaughn, Leon Burke, Jerry Johnson and Jaxxon Rizor.
Erma was born on Oct. 24, 1931, near Hartshorne, to Marvin and Lydia (VanMeter) Thurman. She had lived most of her life in the Hartshorne and Gowen area.
She was married to James Richmond and he preceded her in death. She later married Freddie Jackson, who also preceded her in death.
Erma had worked at Elsing Manufacturing, then as a postal clerk at the Gowen Post Office, and then devoted her time to taking care of Freddie until he died.
She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the National Rifle Association.
Her hobbies included hunting, fishing, traveling and shopping. She loved listening and dancing to country music, but her greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren and other family members.
Erma is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Kenny Sutton, and grandchildren and spouses, Chris Richmond and Christy, Angie Buckner and James, Shelly Reed and Steve, Cherish Rizor and Bruce, and Tahnee Sutton. Great-grandchildren, Kelsey Sexton and husband, Colby, Tristan McMath, Steven Richmond, Katie Richmond, Scotlin, Jaecee and Jaxxon Rizor, and Obi Lloyd, and one great-great-grandson, Sawyer Sexton.
She is also survived by a brother, Wayne Thurman; a sister, Mary Alice Lucke, and a special friend, Flo Burke.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Steve Richmond; a daughter, Sandy Richmond; a sister, Imogene Warren, and two brothers, Jake and Marvin Thurman.
