Edith Marie Billy, 89, of McAlester, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, at a local nursing center.
The family will greet friends on Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at Chaney's Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Cemetery, west of McAlester.
Edith was born on Sept. 30, 1927, in Blanco, to Henry and Plenna (Ward) Wesley. She married Schlicht Billy on Feb. 16, 1952, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. They raised their children in McAlester and Edith was a homemaker.
Edith was a lifelong member of the Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Greg Billy and wife, Mary; grandchildren, Crystal Wilson and husband, Billy D., and their children, Kaytlynn and Christian Dunlap, all of McAlester.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Schlicht Billy, and sons, Michael W. Billy, and an infant, Edward A. Billy.
