Donald (Don) Henry Wagenknecht, 74, passed away suddenly on Thursday, the 14th of September, 2017, in McAlester.
Don was born on July 20, 1943, to Paul Laverne and Dorothy E. (Brown) Wagenknecht, of Sterling, Illinois, the 6th child of 12 children. He attended Mt. Carroll High School in Mt. Carroll, Illinois, and later graduated from the Dale Carnegie School of Business. Don retired from Oklahoma State Penitentiary in 2007.
Don is survived by his wife, Carrie Sue (Anderson), of the home; daughter, Vaunda Kay Olivera and husband, Frank, of Catoosa; son, Donald (Matt) Matthew Wagenknecht and wife, Katherine, of Monument, Colorado; step-daughter, Carla Renee Little; step-sons, Mark Allen McManus Jr., Landon Lee Bond and Keelie Carrie Jane Bond, of the home. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; four brothers, Kenneth and LaVonne Wagenknecht, and Jim and Charyl Wagenknecht, both of Freeport, Illinois, Robert and Nanhee Wagenknecht, of Sparks, Nevana, and Roger Wagenknecht, of Winnebago, Illinois; five sisters, Shirley and Stanley Whitehead, of Freeport, Illinios, Sharon Loring, and Sally and Larry Pfile, both of Freeport, Illinois, Sherry and Kenneth Goss, of Clarkston, Missouri, and Sue and Leonard Abraham, of Wylie, Texas; two aunts, Ruth (Brown) Mickley, of Prophetstown, Illinois, and Geraldine (Wagenknecht) Lench, of Missouri.
Don was preceded in death by his father on Feb. 16, 1982, and his mother on April 30, 2005, and brothers, Ralph Wagenknecht in 1985, and Raymond Wagenknecht in 2017.
Services will be at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m. in McAlester.
