Carolyn O'Kelley, 81, of Hartshorne, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, in Hartshorne.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m. at First Assembly of God Church in Hartshorne with Lonnie Clunn officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne.
Mrs. O'Kelley's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Carolyn O'Kelley was born on May 24, 1936, in Fort Worth, Texas, to George and Minnie (Trammell) Cook. She grew up in the Fort Worth area and married James William O'Kelley in 1952 in Fort Worth.
In 1968, they moved to Jack Fork, where they lived until 1992 when they moved in to Hartshorne.
Among her jobs, Carolyn's favorite was working at the Lone Oak Head Start, serving as supervisor, teacher and occasional bus driver.
Together with her husband, she was a devoted Christian who loved to attend church, revivals and singings. Along with that, the most important thing in her life was her family. She loved having big family gatherings at her house in Hartshorne.
She is survived by her children and spouses, David and Pam O'Kelley, of Hartshorne, Jim Bowie O'Kelley, of Kinta, Becky King, of Hartshorne, Lindy and Joe Silk, of Hochatown, and Martha and Jay Baker, of Talihina. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Bill Reeves, of Fort Worth, and a son-in-law, Bill Kelly, of Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Diane Kelly; a granddaughter, Jen-Jen King, and a son-in-law, Joe King.
The family would like to express a special thank-you to the staff and residents of Beare Manor, Hospice of McAlester and Phil Lay.
