Dale Freeman Bevans, 79, of McAlester, died Wednesday, July 11, 2017, at Walnut Grove Living Center.
Dale was born on Nov. 14, 1937, in Hartshorne, to Joner and Ethel (Hoggatt) Bevans. As a young man, Dale moved to California.
He joined the United States Army Reserve and was honorably discharged in 1959.
He remained in California until 2012 when he returned to his home in Oklahoma.
He is survived by daughter, Vonnie Pombo, of Citrus Heights, California; step-daughter, Mary Gunderson, of Billings, Montana; sister, Winnie Stone, of McAlester; sister-in-law, Katherine Bevans, of Wilmington, Delaware; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and, numerous nieces, nephews and lovingly cared for by nieces, Donna Brummett, Brenda Weeden, Bettie Harris and Tommie Harvey.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Joner and Ethel Bevans; wife, Bonnie Bevans, and brothers and sisters, Murlin Bevans, Joe Bevans, Alma Lozano, Vonnie Bedner and two infants.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 15, at Chaney's Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Lonnie Clunn officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
