Constance "Connie"'s Story
Constance "Connie" Marie Weaver, 85, of McAlester, died on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at her residence.
Connie was born on May 21, 1931, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Orville N. and Mildred M. (Kraeh) Weaver. She attended Butterworth School of Nursing in Grand Rapids, graduating in 1953 with a B.S. in nursing. She completed her nurse anesthetist training in 1955 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
She worked as a nurse anesthetist at McAlester Regional Health Center for over 30 years before her retirement.
Connie raised, and was active in showing, Arabian horses. She was a member of the American Kennel Club where she raised and showed giant and standard schnauzers.
Connie was a founding member and vice president of Hospice of McAlester, which took great care of her in her final days.
She is survived by her cousin, Wesley L. Nolden, his wife, Nellie, and their children; Connie's foster son, Gene Kelley and wife, Kris, and their children, also by close family friends, Brent Jarrett, his wife, Melissa, and their children. She is also survived by her beloved pet, Gadget.
A Celebration of Life will take place at her home in McAlester on Saturday, Jan. 28, from 2 to 5 p.m.
