Cleo Hancock, 94, of Tulsa, formerly of McAlester, died Friday night, Feb. 3, 2017, at an independent living center in Tulsa.
He was born on Aug. 15, 1922, in Quinton, to Robert and Katy Minyard Hancock. He attended school in Quinton and graduated from Quinton High School.
He then joined the United States Army and left the service with an honorable discharge.
Cleo married Loretta Mae Hickman on March 2, 1946, in Reno, Nevada. Cleo and his wife lived in McAlester from 1991 to 1999. Most of their lives they lived in Tulsa from 1951 until 1982. While in Tulsa he worked as a carpenter at McDonnell-Douglas until his retirement. They returned to Tulsa in 1999.
He belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1098 and the Hillcrest Baptist Church while living in McAlester.
He is survived by his sister, Wanda Miller, of Mesa, Arizona, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four brothers, and four sisters.
Graveside services were Monday, Feb. 6, at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Clint Pope officiating. Military honors were provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 1098.
