Claudean P. Everett was born on June 12, 1926, in Bearden, to Claud D. and Minnie (Guess) Simmons.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Chapel with the Rev. Jodi Domingue officiating.
Claudean grew up in the Quinton area and moved to McAlester as a teen where she graduated from McAlester High School. She attended Northeastern State College and the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, where she graduated as valedictorian. She then attended Baylor School of Anesthesia and, after graduating, started a long career as a nurse and nurse anesthetist. She worked as a nurse for Dr. Thurman Shuller at the McAlester Clinic and at McAlester Hospital as a nurse anesthetist.
She was active in the Registered Nurses Association and the Nurse Anesthetist Association, holding office at both the local and state levels.
She married Ralph D. Everett on April 16, 1950, and he preceded her in death in 1987.
Claudine was proud of her indian heritage and enjoyed spending time at the Choctaw Senior Citizens Center and traveling with them and with her AARP group.
Claudean was a longtime devoted member of Victory Park Baptist Church where she worked in the soup kitchen from it's inception.
Claudean is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Lisa Everett, and their children, Jenna Leigh and Jessica Grace Everett, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Jack Simmons, and a sister, Sybil Jaynes.
