Claudius Lynn "Hoot" Lively, 86, of McAlester, died Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at his home.
Viewing will be Friday from 10:30 a.m. until noon at the church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 7, at Kiamichi Country Cowboy Church, west of McAlester, with Pastor Mitch Arteberry officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kiamichi Country Cowboy Church building fund.
"Hoot" was born on Oct. 5, 1930, in Columbia, Louisiana, to C.D. and Katie Mae (Harveston) Lively. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was married to Patricia Lively.
He had been a member of the American Quarter Horse Association for over 50 years in which he bred, raised and showed several Grand Champion horses. He was also a lifelong member of the American Brahmousin Council in which he was "Breeder of the Year" in 1984 and 1985. He registered more calves in those two years than any other breeder. He was also a member of the Pittsburg County Free Fair Board for four years.
He was a member of the Kiamichi Country Cowboy Church.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Lively, of the home; children and spouses, Connie and Terry Gore, of Texas, Debbie Lively, of South Carolina, and Robert and Elaine Lively, of Texas; step-children and spouses, Dennis and Patty Mason, of McAlester, Kathie and Mark Machado, of Seminole, and Debbie and Jimmy Reynolds, of Haileyville; brothers, Dale Lively, of Alabama, and Burl Lively, of Louisiana; sisters, Annie Marie Chapman, of Louisiana, and Myrtle and Dever McBroom, of Louisiana; grandchild, Kristia Mason, and several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; good friends, Charlie Wyant and Danny Nugent, nurse, Karen Pettigrew, provider, Gina Hixson, and all the nurses with Ideal Home Health and Heartland Hospice.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Katie Mae Lively; father, C.D. Lively, and sister, Mary Lavelle Lynde.
Active pallbearers will be Dennis Mason, Jacob Mason, Scott Bush, Jerry Killian, Danny Nugent, C.W. Lively and Jacob Lively.
Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Harper, Jerry Ogden, Shane Winn, Rich Frye and Bob Maxwell.
