Carl's Story

Carl Norman Daniel, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.
Mr. Daniel was born on April 4, 1938, in Kiowa, the son of Odie Lee and Norma Pauline (McElhaney) Daniel. Carl graduated from Limestone Gap High School.
He married the love of his life, Anna Dixie Hamby, on May 29, 1960, in Ludlow.
He earned his BA at Southeastern State University and his masters from Texas A&M at Commerce, Texas.
He had a big heart and loved children.
Carl taught school for many years and later retired from Pottsboro ISD. His students affectionately called him "Mr. D".
Carl loved his family and spending time with them. The family has a tradition of 45 years now of an annual camp out.
He loved the Lord and was a member of Pottsboro Church of Christ.
Carl leaves a legacy of integrity, love of family and of God. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
Mr. Daniel leaves behind his loving family, wife, Dixie Daniel, of Pottsboro, Texas; sons, Rodger Daniel and wife, Tracie, and Rusty Daniel and wife, Tammy, both of Pottsboro, Texas; grandsons, Carl Don Daniel and wife, Darby, of Caddo, Cody Daniel, of Kissimmee, Florida, and Ben L. Daniel, of Pottsboro, Texas; granddaughter, Alaina Daniel, of Baltimore, Maryland; great-grandchildren, Brylee G. Daniel and Luke Daniel; sisters, Gerry McCormick, of Oklahoma City, and Arlene Early and husband, Glen, of El Reno, and brother, Robert Daniel and wife, Jarie, of Kiowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Odie and Pauline Daniel.
Funeral services for Mr. Daniel were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at Pottsboro Church of Christ. Interment followed at Kiowa Cemetery.
Family visitation was held Monday night at the church.
Pallbearers were Carl Don Daniel, Cody Daniel, Benjamin Daniel, Wade Daniel, Jared Earley and Easton Daniel.
