Billy Ray Dalton, beloved child of God, was born into eternal life Friday, May 5, 2017. Billy Ray loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all of his heart, soul, strength and mind. Billy Ray was baptized in a pond on the family property. He was born on Sept. 26, 1938, in Bristow, to parents Guy and Glorene (Dorman) Dalton. Billy Ray was the youngest of three brothers and a sister.
Billy Ray was a proud, born and bred Oklahoman. Billy Ray moved to Quinton in 1960, where his parents built and operated Guy's Dairy Bar on Main Street. Billy Ray was known as an encyclopedia of facts when it came to the 46th State which entered the Union on Nov. 16, 1907. Billy Ray could provide the population of any city or county in a "Sooner" moment. He loved the Blue Oklahoma State Flag with its seven eagle feathers. He said, "Our flag is absolutely beautiful." Billy Ray prayed without ceasing for the Oklahoma State Troopers. One of his most memorable experiences was attending the Eufaula Dam and Reservoir dedication in 1964 where President Lyndon B. Johnson participated in the ceremony. Billy Ray was fortunate enough to attend the 50th Anniversary dedication of the Eufaula Dam and Reservoir on Sept. 25, 2014. Billy Ray was delighted to visit the Oklahoma State House, Oklahoma State Fair, National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, Oklahoma City National Memorial, and the Will Rogers Memorial Museum. Billy Ray traveled to North Carolina, Utah, and visited the Grand Canyon. Every Saturday night he watched, "Discovery Oklahoma," Channel 8 at 6:30 p.m. Sunday morning, Billy Ray worshiped with Boston Avenue Methodist Church in Tulsa on Channel 8 at 11 a.m. The Quinton Senior Citizens luncheons were a weekly highlight. Billy Ray spent time making yarn covered hangers as well as handmade pot holders. Billy Ray lived with his sister, LuWanda and brother-in-law, William Breen until January 2017, when he then resided at Quinton Manor. He cheered for the Oklahoma City Thunder Basketball games and enjoyed winning at Bingo. Billy Ray's most treasured books were his Bible and current World Almanac.
Billy Ray is survived by two brothers, Dale V. Dalton, of Quinton, and Harous W. Dalton and wife, Bana, of Quinlan, Texas, and his sister, LuWanda (Dalton) Breen and husband William, of Quinton.
Billy Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Glorene Dalton, and a brother, Donald Lee Dalton.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of King and Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
