Billy Ray Bailey, 65, of Hartshorne, died Wednesday, February 28, 2018, in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Visitation will be today, March 2, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Brumley-Mills Chapel in Hartshorne with Dale Begley officiating. Burial will be at Bache-Red Oak Cemetery in Bache.
Mr. Bailey was born on August 4, 1952, in McAlester, to his parents, Jack and Geraldine (Pace) Bailey. He was raised in McAlester and finished his education in Atoka.
He was a musician for a number of years and was a part of many musical groups playing the bass.
He then entered the ministry of the gospel as an evangelist then later was called to the New Life Assembly of Faith Church in McAlester. He ministered for 23 years.
It was on September 17, 1977, that he married Shelia Stumpf in Chickasha. After his ministry time he became self-employed and owed and operated Eastern Hauling Company. It was in 1993 the family came to Hartshorne. Mr. Bailey retired in 2016.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Shelia Bailey, of the home; daughters, Kimberly Wiley and husband, Steve, of Greenwood, Arkansas, Stacy Boggs and husband, John, of Greenwood, Arkansas, Jessica Hackler and husband, Daniel, of Hartshorne, and Alicia Mass and husband, Lucas, of Hartshorne; son, Kris Bailey and wife, Stephanie, of Hartshorne, and his dog, Elvis, of the home. Brothers, David Bailey and wife, Carol, of Lehigh, Fred Bailey and wife, Karen, of Sulphur, and Paul Bailey and wife, Terry, of Yukon; sisters, Freda Brown, of Springfield, Missouri, Jacklin Wilson, of McAlester, and Sue Trued and husband, Phil, of Belton, Missouri; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be Cory Bailey, Jordan Wiley, Hunter Wiley, Brady Bailey and Chase Mass.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Wiley, Daniel Hackler, Lucas Mass, John Boggs and the Last Call Band, Frank Thomason, Carl Henry Thomason, Jerry Weeks and Jerry Morgan.
Family that preceded him in death are his parents, Jack and Geraldine Bailey; sister, Connie Conn; brother, Kenneth Bailey, and in-laws, Ron and Betty Terry.
