Betty Johnson, 79, of Gowen, died Monday, March 13, 2017, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 17, at Haileyville Baptist Church with Seth Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Gowen/Cambria Cemetery.
Betty Johnson was born on Aug. 30, 1937, in Gowen, to Leroy and Georgia Lee (Christopher Glenn. She grew up there and had lived in that area virtually all her life. She was married to James Johnson.
Betty worked for Hartshorne Schools as a cook for over 25 years. Betty was an excellent cake maker and decorator and enjoyed to sew. She also loved to go fishing with James and her family.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Betty is survived by her husband, James Johnson, of the home; children, Leon Johnson and wife, Audie Jean, of Frogtown, and Mary Ellen Gaither and husband, Billy Wayne, of Gowen; grandchildren, Logan Johnson and wife, Kristi, Rachel Johnson, Emily Johnson, Tess Johnson, Seth Johnson and wife, Rebecca, Lacey Johnson and husband, Brian, Royce Calvin, and Nicholas Gaither; several great-grandchildren; sister, Norman Lou White, of Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gerald Johnson; two grandchildren, Clint and Adam Johnson; a sister, Linda Colvard; a brother, Richard Glenn, and his wife, Johnnye.
Pallbearers will be Seth Johnson, Alex Jackson, Benny Colvard, Logan Johnson, Johnny Adams and Brody Adams.
Honorary pallbearers will be Royce Calvin, Nicholas Gaither, Isaiah Johnson, Canaan Johnson and Isach Johnson.
