Alice Bernice Brinkley, 76, of Haywood, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at her home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 3, at Haywood Baptist Church with Bryan Myers officiating. Burial will be at Arpelar Cemetery.
Bernice Brinkley was born on Jan. 5, 1941, in Fort Cobb, to Cecil and Dorothy (Banks) Martin. She grew up there and married Clarence Brinkley on Sept. 3, 1959. They lived in several different places in Oklahoma for a few years then, in 1984, made their home in Haywood.
Bernice spent several years selling
Avon products but was mainly a wife and mother. She was an excellent cook and, in recent years, loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her church membership was with the Kiowa Baptist Church after a number of years with the Haywood Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence Brinkley, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Clarence Lynn and Lea Ann Brinkley, of Sitka, Alaska, and Terry Wayne and Stacie Brinkley, of Haywood; four grandchildren, Rodney and Randi Brinkley, of Haywood, Derek and Stacey Brinkley, of Pauls Valley, Melissa Brinkley, of Shawnee, and Robin Brinkley and Justin Gauchat, of Shawnee; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Marion and Donna Martin, of Yukon, Donnie and Janice Martin, of Fort Cobb, and Jerry and Debbie Martin, of Elk City; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Shirley White, of Ramona, Sue and Vernon Whaley, of Rush Springs, Louise and Glenn Fowler, of Duncan, and Jane and David Pearl, of Mountain View, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Dorothy Martin.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Brinkley, Derek Brinkley, Cody White, Luke White, James White and Kevin Whaley.
