William "Bill" O'Nesky passed away during the night on Monday, April 11, 2016. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Tatijana "Tanya" O'Nesky, in Heaven.
Bill was born and raised in Haileyville by his parents, Mitch and Rose O'Nesky. He had a deep abiding love for the community and spent many decades caring for Sts. Cyril and Methodius Russian Orthodox Church in Hartshorne. Both Bill and his wife, Tanya, were recognized for their devotion to preserving this beautiful church and it's historical place in Oklahoma's settlement history.
Bill loved to hunt and fish. He raised beagles for hunting for many years. He was able to pursue his love of the outdoors until he was injured in April 2015. Sadly, he never fully recovered.
Bill was a United States Navy veteran serving with honor in World War II.
He was a loving and caring person, always ready with a helping hand to those in need.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mitch and Rose O'Nesky; his sisters, Betty Walls and Dorothy Standerfer; his beloved wife, Tanya, and his son, Bill Curtis O'Nesky.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Donna; his sister, Helen Stevens, and his grandchildren, William and Jennifer and three great-grandchildren. He leaves behind many extended family members and friends who loved and respected him.
Graveside services will be on Friday, April 15, 2016, at 1 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Hartshorne.
